Many conclude that the existence of evil proves the non-existence of a benevolent God. But what if we were to change our perspective?  <\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-le-mal-ne-vient-pas-de-l-exterieur-nous-en-sommes-les-createurs\">Evil does not come from outside: we are its creators.<\/h2>\n\n<p>Evil&#8221; is not an external force that imposes itself on us. It is <strong>the fruit of our thoughts, our choices, our actions<\/strong>. Evil is a human creation. We are its authors, its vehicles, its perpetrators.   <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We have the power to do good&#8230; or evil. And that power is the key to our freedom. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-et-si-dieu-nous-empechait-de-faire-le-mal\">What if God prevented us from doing evil?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Imagine a God who intervenes at every wrong thought or intention:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It would censor us as soon as a malicious thought arose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It short-circuits our violent gestures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He would take our hand and force us to help a stranger.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><strong>Where would our freedom be? Our dignity? Our humanity?  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Such a God would be a jailer, not a being of love. He would turn humanity into puppets. <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>True love doesn&#8217;t coerce. It leaves you free. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-la-liberte-est-un-acte-d-amour\">Freedom is an act of love<\/h2>\n\n<p>The existence of evil does not prove the absence of God. On the contrary, it reveals <g id=\"gid_0\">God&#8217;s immense respect for our free will<\/g>. God does not treat us as children to be watched over, but as beings capable of choosing, creating and learning.  <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>He loves us enough to let us be free&#8230; even to hurt each other.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-dieu-n-est-pas-lointain-il-souffre-avec-nous\">God is not far away: He suffers with us<\/h2>\n\n<p>We might imagine a distant God on Olympus, indifferent to our suffering. But <strong>spiritual testimonies, mystical accounts and near-death experiences (NDEs)<\/strong> tell us the opposite: <\/p>\n\n<p>&#x27a1;&#xfe0f; God is in each of us. Each being is a particle of the divine.   <\/p>\n\n<p>&#x27a1;&#xfe0f; When one suffers, God suffers too, for He is within us.  <\/p>\n\n<p>&#x27a1;&#xfe0f; When we do evil, we also do evil to God.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-ce-que-vous-faites-au-plus-petit-c-est-a-moi-que-vous-le-faites\">&#8220;What you do to the least of these, you do to me&#8221;.<\/h2>\n\n<p>In the Gospel according to Matthew, Jesus expresses this bond of unity:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I was hungry, and you gave me food&#8230; I was a stranger, naked, sick, in prison&#8230; and you welcomed me, clothed me, visited me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>And when asked, &#8220;When did we do this?&#8221;, He replies:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Whenever you did it to the least of my brothers, <strong>you did it to me.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-le-mal-que-nous-faisons-finit-toujours-par-nous-revenir\">The harm we do always comes back to us.<\/h2>\n\n<p>We are one with God, and one with others. What we do to others, we do to ourselves. As Jesus said:  <\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;He who kills with the sword will perish with the sword.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s not a punishment, but a spiritual law: <strong>we reap what we sow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-dieu-appelle-il-ne-force-pas\">God calls. He does not force. <\/h2>\n\n<p>Because He loves us infinitely, God <strong>imposes nothing<\/strong>. He does not control or punish. He <strong>inspires, calls and suggests<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>He invites us to love, to forgive, to grow.<\/p>\n\n<p>God shows us <strong>the way to unconditional love<\/strong> through intuition, love, synchronicities and inner experiences.  <\/p>\n\n<p>The real question is not, &#8220;Why does God allow evil?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p>But, <strong>&#8220;What are we going to do with the freedom He gives us?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>To go further, I invite you to read <a href=\"https:\/\/la-vie-et-apres.fr\/en\/how-did-you-like-it\/\">the article on Nicole Dron&#8217;s book<\/a> &#8220;How did you like it?&#8221;  <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If God is love, intelligence and light, how can we explain the existence of evil and suffering in our world?
